Sensory Room Project
With my partners Jenna Frye and Jay Gould , we received a Ronald McDonald House grant to build sensory room at Dr Bob’s Place; a children’s hospice in Baltimore MD. With the help of some very talented students from the Maryland Institute College of Art, we have completed the first phase of the project and are currently under going testing and user testing with the staff of Dr. Bobs.
For the project I built a set of custom interactive environments using Processing for animation, a Kinect for computer vision, LibPD for surround sound, Arduino + a DMX shield to control LED washes and also built a custom touch screen interface.
The goal of the project is to create a meditative space for patients, their families and the staff of Dr. Bobs during physically and emotionally stressful times. With this in mind, we created three audio/visual environments: Space, Water and Nature, each one attempting to create a sense of wonder of the infinite.
